The Spirit of Cricket and Destroyer Indian Media

In the recent ICC world cup 2011 when Pakistan and India were opponents, Indian media played disgraceful role. This was a very good chance to promote harmony and tolerance among the people of both countries through healthy competition of cricket but Indian media broadcasted baseless sensational videos packages before the match and developed atmosphere like war. The main target was Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi. They tried every cheap method to insult him. One channel broadcasted a report in which Pakistani players were practicing on a black marble. This channel analyzed this practice as these Pakistani bowlers are going to kill Sehwag and Tendulker by practicing on black stone. Another channel broadcasted a report in which this channel says that Indian Captain Dhoni is going to eat the captaincy of Shahid Afridi, this channel showed the pictures of several ex captains of different countries. These pictures were placed in frames like dead according to Hindu religion. One empty frame was shown by saying that this is ready for Afridi. Besides these frames this channel called Afridi openly cheater continuously. Another channel was showing a report in which Shahid Afridi was helping Yuvrag Singh in standing up when he fill down on the ground while taking a run. During helping Yuvrag Singh, Afridi touch his bat, during this process the bat struck to the wickets. By this way on any means batsman could not be declare out. But this channel was showing that actually Afridi did it to get Yovrag Sing out by cheating. The selections of words in these reports were shameful. These reports showed that Indian media is without moral values. This media has no moral values and the educated staff of Indian media loves to use dirty language without any restriction.

Pakistan cricket team captain Shaid Afridi has stated in his one of interview that as Pakistani team had qualified for the semi finals of both ICC world cup ODI and T20, therefore, Pakistani cricketers deserver to play IPL on merit. Afridi says that he doesn’t want to be included to IPL but young players deserve to play in IPL for the betterment of relationship between the people of both the countries.

Indian media quoted him “Afridi appealed to BCCI for Induction in IPL”. Now look at this reaction of Indian media. Indian Media is using even every positive approach from Pakistani people for the embarrassment of Pakistan. This Indian media will never think about the betterment of relationship of both countries. Infact this commercial Indian media will ponder only for the marketing of their channels. This media knows the basics of gaining viewership in India. They know that they can do it by making their people emotional on any issue. Indian politicians always used this method. They used the name of Pakistan for making their people emotional and get votes from them. This commercialized Indian media is using every positive measure from any Pakistani as negative to play with the emotions of their own people. Indian people have never realized to analyze the facts in true spirit.

This attitude from Indian media may be in favour of their channels but infact destroyer for the people of subcontinent. Without peaceful relationship between India and Pakistan the situation of subcontinent will remain under the fear of war for ever. Therefore, promotion of harmony, tolerance and brotherhood among the people of both the countries are required, and media can play an important and key role in doing so. Cricket is such a powerful tool in both the countries that by using this tool media from both sides can develop trust and confidence between the people of both the countries. If media from both sides want to live peacefully they should highlight positive aspects from both sides despite making false stories for playing with the emotions of the people.

Hosting Mega Events – Embarrassing Record of India

It is a massive embarrassment for the World Cup organizers, that International Cricket Council has ruled out Eden Gardens, Kolkata as the host of the game between India and England on February 27. The ICC’s inspection team found that Eden Gardens would not be ready in time.

Before this controversy, India has faced such embarrassment in common wealth games also. When top star players avoid to come India because of insufficient facilities and unprofessional preparations for the games by Indian officials.

What these all details shows? Infact India is showing the world that it is a modern and developed country through his huge media, but in fact only one class of India has developed themselves through money, the whole structure of the country is still not in position to meet the requirements of such huge events like Olympic Games and common wealth games. Because before the starting of World cup ICC has shown there concerns regarding event preparations.

So therefore, world community should look ground realities while thinking to consider India as host for massive events. Because media can make some thing charming only on the screens not on ground. 

Some Statements from Sarfaraz Nawaz – Should Media Consider Sarfaraz Nawaz as Analyst

Pakistan’s former fast bowler Sarfaraz Nawaz  is famous for his hot and fiery statements. He is live in media because of his negligent statements. He never thought that what would be the negative impact of his non serious statements on the status of Pakistan cricket. Here is record of some statements of Sarfaraz Nawaz, read these statement and then decide, is this man has potential to express his views on any cricket issu? If not Media should not take his views after every controversy to promote its channel viewer ships, for the betterment of cricket as well as for the betterment of Pakistan image.

“He told a television channel that Imran had demanded money from former Pakistan player Younus Ahmed to play him in the side on a tour and after he didn`t pay the full amount he was sent packing home. Sarfaraz has alleged he was witness to the deal between Imran and Younus. He has also claimed that Imran used to take hashish regularly (charas) and had bawdy sex romps as a Pakistan team member.”

Infact he was stating after meeting with MQM Head Altaf Hussain, by this he was trying to damage the personality of Imran Khan on the advice of MQM. Sarfaraz was also on the pay role of PML (N)  when PLM (N) and PTI was opponent in an election in 1990s. At that time Sarfaraz was creating story of Seta White.

After loosing series in Sri Lanka in captaincy of Younis Khan Sarfaraz Nawaz Stated

“I feel that team captain Younis Khan should retire from international cricket and hand over the responsibilities to Shahid Afridi”.

Can a sensible person demand a young player to retire after loosing a series. 

In one of his TV interview to Indian News Channel “Star News”

he said “that Shoaib Malik is marrying Sania Mirza only to fix Tennis matches now  as he cannot serve Pak Cricket Team because of ban now”.

Commenting on a controversy, when after differences with Chairman Younis Khan resign from captaincy Sarfaraz said:-

Younis Khan ko Istifa dene par gairat dikhane ke baad be-gairati nahi karni chahiye aur is par kaim rehna chahi

Stating regarding ex Chairman of ICC on September 15, 2010 (Frontier Star): “Sarfaraz terming former Chairman of ICC Ehsan Mani as a match fixer”  

In another interview he stated

"I urge upon cricket nations to stop taking part in the ICC-held events. They are havens for match-fixers. ICC is actively promoting it,"

On death of Bob Wolmer Controversy he stated:-

"Bob must have seen how Pakistan team went about its business against West Indies. You could sense it from their body language that something was amiss. I believe he was writing a book and he would have come off with sensational disclosures.”

On another occasion he claimed

“that captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, along with Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Malik were involved in betting.”

On one occasion he  claimed

“That he was threatened with death threats by unidentified men who snuck up on him and threatened to kill him if he continued with his jibes against match fixing by Pakistan cricketers.”

No doubt he was great bowler of his time, and the invention of reverse swing is on his credit, but after reading these statements can any one draw some positive conclusions from his statements in favour of cricket, players and especially Pakistan cricket.  All these statements look like he knows the habits of emotional Pakistani nation and by these spicy statement he is trying to live in media.

But I think media should read statements and think again that is he could be consider cricket analyst. Should media take him for expressing his views on cricket controversies? 

Battle Between Two Legendary Cricketers - Javed Miandad and Dennis Lillee

One from the famous cricket stories is the, Dennis Lillee and Javed Miandad Controversy. In 1980-81 during Pakistan cricket team visit to Australia a controversy between Australian Fast Bowler Dance Lille and Pakistan Captain Javed Miandad developed. During a test match when Miandad was running for single, he struck against Dance Lillee. Dennis Lillee was not happy and was claiming that Miandad struck against him deliberately. On the other hand Javed Miandad was claiming that Lillee deliberately came in his way. The situation heat up to the point where Lillee kick Javed Miandad with his leg from back. In response Javed Miandad lifted his bat above his head as if to strike him. But umpires and then Australian captain separate both players. Dennis Lillee was fine for A$120 and was suspended for two matches. And  this was the end of controversy  as well.  

Imagine if this type of controversy occurred again. And if any Pakistani player involved. What would be the response of international media, especially Indian Media. I can guess, Media, former cricketers from India and  the ex CEO of ICC Malcolm Speed and Umpire Darell Hair will demand for "BAN ON PAKISTAN CRICKET". What you think.
