Victims of Nerves Nineties in History of Cricket


When a batsman scores more then 90 runs and he want to convert this 90s to 100 he feels pressure because of this situation. Therefore, this situations is  called nerves nineties. If a batsman gets out because of pressure in 90s he is called victim of nerves nineties. Dozens of times this type of circumstances occurred with so many batsmen. In the resent tour of Pakistan cricket team to New Zealand Pakistan test team captain Misbah Ul Haq became 86th victim of nerves nineties, when he was got out on 99 in Wellington test. Total number of victim of nerves nineties is 86 in test cricket so far. In these 86, 78 batsmen got out on 99, 7 batsmen got out on 199 and 1 batsman got out on 299. Ex captain of New Zealand Marten Crow is a single batsman who got out on 299  in Wellington against Sri Lanka in 1991. Including Younis Khan who got out on 199 total 11 Pakistani batsmen became victim of nerves nineties so far.
The first victim of nerves nineties in the history of cricket is Clim Hill, when he got out on 99 in 1902 in Melbourne against England. 1n 1973 in Cape Town, in a test match which was played between Pakistan and England, 3 batsmen became victim of nerves nineties. In first inning, Majid Khan from Pakistan became victim of nerves nineties, and after 10 minutes, Mushtaq Muhammad from Pakistan also got out on 99. It was not the end of the story, English opener Danis Immes also became victim of nerves 90s when he got out on 99. This was the first time in history of cricket when 3 batsmen got out on 99 in single test match. Sir Bradman is only batsman who remain not out on 299 in test cricket.
In history of ODIs total 21 batsmen became victim of nerves nineties. The first victim of nerves nineties in ODIs was Jeffery Boycott from England. Total 10 players remain not out on 98, 99 in the history of ODIs. Little Master Sachin Tendulker has faced nerves nineties dismissals more than any other batsman in both test and limited overs matches.
